Meet Dr. Erik Hurst

Dr. Erik Hurst is a native of Hedgesville, West Virginia and has been practicing medicine in the area since 2008. He received a bachelor of science degree from West Virginia University and a doctorate of medicine from Marshall University. He completed dermatology residency at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA. While in medical school, he received many accolades, including the MS-I and MS-II Academic Achievement Awards, induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha honorary society, and was selected by his colleagues to receive the Peer Choice Award. As a medical resident, he was awarded the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery Scholarship and was an active volunteer for cancer and medical related causes. He has written several publications that appear in academic dermatology journals and has been a presenter at various dermatology conventions. Dr. Hurst is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and licensed in dermatology in the states of West Virginia and Maryland. He is an associate professor of dermatology at West Virginia University and is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society for Mohs Surgery. He remains very actively involved in volunteer efforts supporting local skin cancer awareness and detection, our area schools, and other philanthropic endeavors that are important to him and our community. He was recently awarded the HHS Alumni of the Year award because of his staunch commitment to our community and his other achievements. He lives in Hedgesville, WV with his wife and four children.
